    You’re never ‘too fit’ to do Pilates

    I recently had the privilege of conducting some Fitness Pilates sessions with the GB U18 Basketball team prior to their participation in the European Championships.  So far, they have only lost one game, so I’m delighted they’re doing so well!  However fit we may think we are, Core strength is essential and the boys found it a challenge to say the least!!  By improving core strength the chances of injury are much less and more sports teams are realising this.

    About Carol Wickes

    I am a qualified fitness Instructor and I have been highly trained in Nutrition. Having been a Rosemary Conley Franchisee I am starting my own company based on the Weight management ideals and fitness that are my passion. I strongly believe that the combination of weight loss with exercise is key. I was always your typical yo yo dieter and always between sizes 14 and 18, having lost my weight to become a size 10 I have managed to maintain that weight for the last 7 years.

    Having lost 3.5 stone myself and at my heaviest I weighed 13.5 stone I know the importance of staying healthy and striving for a goal with the help and support from my family.     About Ali Cannon

    Hi, I am in my fifth year as a fully qualified Instructor specialising in teaching exercise to music with special experience to teach the overweight or newcomer to exercise.  I run my own business in Bracknell but cover fellow Instructors classes whenever I am needed.

    I have also been highly trained in nutrition, so I know I can help you achieve your weight loss goals, whilst at the same time improve your fitness.

    Prior to becoming a Fitness Instructor, I was an IT Technician working in a Private Boarding School for Girls.  I have personally overcome a weight problem myself, so I know how it feels to be overweight. At my heaviest I weighed 12st 5lbs which for someone that only stands at 4’11”, made me a little barrel shaped. I was approached to take part in a Charity Challenge on behalf of The Breast Cancer Campaign to trek to Machu Picchu in Peru. To achieve this, I knew I had to do something, so I joined a local class.

    I lost 3 stone, and incredibly, 39 inches overall. I lost more in my first year as an Instructor and I am now fitter and healthier than I have ever been and achieved my goal of reaching Machu Picchu in April 2011 and climbed Kilimanjaro in September 2014. These were challenges I never dreamed I would be able to do, but losing weight has given me a new lease of life, and enabled me to run my own classes. I started training to be an instructor shortly after returning from Machu Picchu and have never looked back.  If I can, you can too!

    About Nikki Steede

    Having lost 7 stone myself I went on to qualify as a group exercise instructor and have been teaching for about 8 years now. I have taught salsa, Zumba, combat, hiit, aerobics, bootcamps and more recently qualified as a kettlebell instructor. I am passionate about helping others who want to lose weight or just get fitter and understand the daily challenges we face in doing this!

    I started attending Carols classes because of an old injury which meant I couldn't go to the gym and I haven't looked back. As a man attending a predominantly a womans’ class, I find it invigorating, hard work and I am certainly starting to see results in fitness levels.     5 weeks and I have already lost a stone in weight


    I joined Carol’s classes 5 weeks ago and am delighted to say I have already lost one stone in weight!  I love the support that she and the other members give me and I love the exercise classes – so much so that I quickly started to go to 2 a week and now intend to go to 3 a week!  I am a diabetic so it’s really important for me to lose weight – Carol has given me all the tools and advice I need to do this and I am delighted with my progress.
